John (J.R.) Richards

     John’s practice focuses on developing long term client relationships representing their interests in both transactional matters and in civil litigation.  He represents both plaintiffs and defendants primarily in real estate and business disputes and has successfully litigated cases through dispositive motion, trial and settlement in state and federal courts.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

California Lawyers Association

John Richards joined the California Lawyers Association in 2017 by being appointed the the Real Property Section Executive Committee.  Under the leadership of Gary Laturno and Christine Gregorak and subsequent chairs including Tom Lombardi, Neil Kalin, Tara Burd and Steve Delateur, John Richards served the E-News Editor 2017-2020 where he developed the monthly e-bulletin which outlined current events, cases and covered the calendar of the real property section of the state of California.  You will see the articles on the articles page.

In 2020, John Richards became a founding co-chair of the California Lawyers Association Wellness Committee.  He then decided to refocus his work doing Health and Wellness with the Real Property section and under the leadership of both Elizabeth Blair and Ashley Peterson.

He now co-hosts WUWU, What’s Up With Us, a monthly zoom show with interviews, real estate hot topics and other engaging discussion related to California Real Estate Law..

Contra Costa County Bar Association

John Richards joined the Contra Costa County Bar Association Real Estate Executive Committee  in 2018 and continues to serve to this day.  It has been a great opportunity to get a in touch with the legal community in Contra Costa County.  He had the pleasure to organize CLE’s with venerable speakers like Douglas Borchert and David Roth and former Contra Costa Commissioner Lowell Richards.

Diablo Country Club

Diablo Country Club is a beautiful community in the shadow of Mount Diablo with history dating back to the famous Big Five from when California was founded.  John Richards joined the Swim Team Committee in 2017 and currently serves as the Coach’s Liaison for members to express constructive feedback about the team.  He has also be able to serve on the History Committee in 2016 and 2017.

Coach SRVGAL

JR served as the Coach/Manager for Pre-K/K softball team named the Purple Puppies 2016.  They were undefeated!  But mostly because they did not keep score.  He did win Coach of the Year honors.  You may see him sport that hat regularly even today.

Coach San Ramon Valley Little League

JR also served Coach/Manager for the Danville Seadogs T-Ball team 2015.  It was a great Team.  JR is sure one of those players will go to the big leagues!  Can you imagine?

Vista Grande Elementary School

JR Richards served as the Technical Director for VGTV Kids’ TV show. VGTV is a weekly TV completely filmed and performed by 5th graders.  VGTV provided student leadership to develop communication skills and other leadership skills.  JR was the dorky guy who edited the film from 2014- 2016.

Alameda County Bar Association

JR served on the Real Estate Executive Committee for several years and the Chairman for two years. He also volunteered Landlord/Tenant Attorney with the Alameda County VSLC.  On a monthly basis, J.R.  assists low income landlords concerning problematic situations with tenants.  He also helped the Lawyer Referral Service committee by evaluating applicants for the Alameda County Bar Association referral panels.

  • Featured on Seven on Your Side in the Cuniff v. O.F. Lending civil suit concerning material misrepresentations in a mortgage rescue scheme. Richards Law found justice for approximately 22 victims of a mortgage rescue loan scheme perpetrated in Pleasanton, California.  Defendants obtained a judgment for over $600,000.00 in addition to payments from some defendants and amounts paid by the California Bureau of Real Estate Real Estate Recovery Fund.  Richards Law knows how to pursue licensed real estate agents, real estate brokers and mortgage brokers.
